About City

Singapore is an Economic giant, although it is physically small. For more than a century, it has been the most modern city in Southeast Asia. This city brings together the cultures and religions of Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English. Its special ethnic tapestry allows tourists to choose from a wide range of sightseeing and culinary opportunities. A robust year-round calendar of popular festivals and holidays contributes to its social appeal. Singapore also offers luxury hotels, delicious food, and great shopping. The island nation of the Republic of Singapore is situated one degree north of South Asia's Equator. Singapore has become a prosperous country that excels in trade and tourism and is a model for developing nations because of its focused and determined government. The capital city, i.e. Singapore, occupies roughly one-third of the main island area.

The tropical climate of Singapore, situated at the tip of the Malay Peninsula, attracts both leisure and business travelers throughout the year. The excellent infrastructure of the island republic makes it possible for tourists to enjoy its many sites and attractions in a healthy, clean and green setting. Changi Airport is an award-winning airport that offers connectivity to major cities around the world and the train and subway systems are clean, fast and efficient. Moreover, its state-of-the-art cruise terminal has made Singapore one of South East Asia's leading cruise centers and an exciting port of call on any Asian cruise itinerary.

It is very nice that there is no need for a private vehicle in the city to explore it as there is excellent public transportation and walking is also a great way to visit the areas. The tour bus also provides access to all major attractions. Since the city is only 100 km (60 miles) from the equator, tropical temperatures do not vary significantly. The rainfall is distributed fairly evenly throughout the year. Whenever you choose to visit, the warm weather will be abundant throughout the year. The visitor is immediately impressed by Singapore’s abundance of parks, nature reserves, and lush, tropical greenery.

The progress made by Singapore over the past three decades has been remarkable, but growth has not overwhelmed the country. Visitors will discover a wealth of past historical artifacts in the elegance of older buildings, values, and traditions that have survived in the face of dramatic geographical and social change. Singapore is a clean, safe place to visit, its amenities are second to none and its public places are smoke-free and hygienic.

The Colonial District is the heart of downtown Singapore. Each surrounding enclave has its own unique flavor, from Little India's aromatic spice shops to Chinatown's tumbledown backstreets, where we can find calligraphers and fortune-tellers, or the Arab Quarter, whose cluttered stores sell fine cloths and silks.

Two nature preserves are located north of the city, Bukit Timah and the Central Catchment Area, along with the beautiful Singapore Zoological Gardens. The east coast has good restaurants for seafood on long stretches of sandy beaches. Moreover, in Singaporean waters, there are more than fifty islands and islets, all of which can be reached with varying degrees of ease. Day trips are popular with Sentosa, the amusement arcade on the island that is connected by a short causeway and cable car to the south coast. Music, theatre, nightlife, all are plentiful in this incredible city.

Singapore is both an island as well as a country, but mostly known as the city-state. It offers the highest degree of culture and order, like the great city-states of the past. Singapore is also a multicultural city, and approximately one-quarter of its population are worldwide expatriates or foreign workers. Singapore is the most wired country in the region, renowned for its ambition to become Asia's innovation hub.
