Dr. Montes Pena received her Doctor of Medicine and Surgeon degree from Los Andes University in Venezuela. After completing her studies, she accomplished her medical residency training in Neurophysiology at Madrid's Gregorio Maranon University Hospital. Upon graduation, she began training in Neurosurgical Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM), which included several apprenticeship rotations throughout Europe with leading IONM doctors including Dr. Alfredo Traba, Dr. Andrea Szelenyi, and Dr. Francesco Sala, as well as a second apprenticeship rotation n Advance EMG and NCS with leading pioneers EMG doctors including Dr. Erik Stlberg, and Dr. Björn Falck. Dr. Montes recently earned her Master’s degree in Sleep disorders and her second Master’s Degree in Epilepsy from Murcia University in Spain. Once launching the IONM subdivision in Cardiff Vale University Hospital in Cardiff, in the UK, Dr. Montes moved to Saudi Arabia where she also completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship in IONM under the tutelage of Dr. Faisal Jahangiri. Currently, she is a Ph.D. Candidate in Neuroscience at California State University at Northridge, USA, while serving as a Neurophysiologist and IONM Consultant at the NGHA in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
