Biography :

Dr. Walied A. Moussa is the director of the MEMS/NEMS Advanced Design Laboratory (ADL) at the University of Alberta (UofA); researching and developing MEMS/NEMS-based sensors used in biomedical diagnostic systems, wireless micro switches, civil, automotive and aerospace health and performance monitoring micro-systems. He is currently a Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department with joint appointment in both Departments of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at the UofA. His research group is composed of 20 graduate students, Postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars. He collaborates with various researchers in Canada, USA, Europe and the Middle East; and, his team is funded by Provincial, Federal and global granting agencies and industries. Dr. Moussa is the founder the program director for the International Conference on MEMS, NEMS and Smart Systems from 2003-2005; and, he serves on the editorial board for a number of related journals in MEMS, Sensors and Nanoscience.
